We recently come through with confusion regarding only 1 Marketing Application which comes free with 10 License of D365 Customer Service and Sales, Which we used for Different UAT, Now how to install Marketing solution in Sandbox and UAT as in application there was only 1 license mentioned which we configured

  • As our client got Compensatory marketing module license, There was Planed UAT with them
  • We installed License in UAT Environment and had a successful UAT
  • and after Sign off, we were Ready for Deployment in Production , but there was some challenges
  1. Marketing License was consumed in ORG 2 ( Only Marketing)
  2. There was another UAT ORG with no Marketing and used for Customer Service
  3. We had to merge Both UAT and Deploy final version to Production which will actually consume Marketing License

STEP 1: Release License form Marketing UAT ORG

  • We had only 1 Marketing License and we already used it in UAT so 1st thing to do is release license from UAT so it can be used in production or any Other Org we want to Use
  1. Navigate to Marketing Application configuration -> Select Environment and click uninstall
  2. This will take around 1-2 hours and remember it doesn’t remove the installed managed solutions only free up the license
  3. Also, check for the portal, and reset it.

STEP 2: Make ORG 1 (No marketing App) compatible to merge with ORG 2 by installing Marketing solution Only

As ORG 1 don’t have a component of Marketing Solution and ORG 2 has Marketing Solution so technically both need to be same in prospective of managed solution

We are 2 Option here

  1. Raise a Ticket to Microsoft and they will enable a Marketing Solution only component in the application if that not visible for you

  2. or install Marketing License in ORG 1 and once all solution are installed in ORG1 , Release the License again as uninstalling Marketing application doesn’t remove Solutions

  3. Now we will have a Marketing Managed solution in ORG 1 and Org 2. and would be easier to migration customization from ORG 2 to ORG 1.
  4. We are ready with ORG 1 having Marketing, Sales and customer service app with the unmanaged customizations  and its time to move Solution in production
  5. We will Use the license Marketing Application in Production only that will be fully functional with prospective to marketing, then UAT ORG 1 with Marketing Solution only ( functionality will not work , only for smooth change deployments )
